Biographical Info

The overall goal of my research is to determine the mechanisms by which high fat diets promote the development of obesity, dysregulated metabolism, and insulin resistance. Specifically I am investigating how high fat diet-mediated dysbiosis of gut microbial structure and function impacts on the nuclear receptors, peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPAR)α and constitutive androstane receptor (CAR), important in regulating energy, lipid, and xenobiotic metabolism in the liver.
