My overarching research interest has been to understand bacteria behavior and the role of microbe on human health. My previous research focused on genetic basis of antibiotic tolerance. Using genetic approach including transposon sequencing and targeted mutagenesis, I have discovered a novel mechanism for bacteria to survive antibiotic treatment during chronic infections.
In Chang lab, my research aims at applying molecular microbiology approaches to understand in depth gut microbe behavior and the role of microbiota on human health. Currently, I am investigating the molecular mechanism of how microbiota contribute to the development of gut inflammation.
